UKVI introduces App ‘IDV’ for in-country applications

The new identity verification app developed by UKVI will allow for those who have previously submitted biometrics to UKVI to not have to go through the whole identity verification process again. Instead, such individuals can download the IDV app on their Android or iPhone smartphones and submit their information to UKVI by taking a photograph of themselves, their travel documents and uploading the documents through the app.
As mentioned, not everyone will be able to use this route to submit their information, only applicants who receive an email verification can use the app. If you have not submitted your biometric information previously, you will need to book an appointment at a UKVCAS centre.
The introduction of this app is not to speed up the processing of applications but to simplify for the process for some in an effort to tackle the backlog of applicants arising as a result of COVID.
