Representative of an Overseas Business
When is the Representative of an Overseas Business Route Suitable for New Applicants?
As of 11 April 2022, this route is exclusively for overseas media representatives posted to the UK by their employers on long-terms assignments. These media representatives are typically journalists, but the route also extends to various other roles such as producers, news cameramen and front-of-camera personnel.
Secretaries and other administrative support staff cannot qualify for this visa. This route is also no longer open for new sole representative applicants. Those business looking to set up their first UK branch can now apply for the UK Expansion Worker visa (Global Business Mobility routes) instead.
The Representative of an Overseas Business visa allows successful applicants to stay in the UK for an initial period of three years with the option of a further two-year extension. After five years, those on this visa can apply for settlement.
